Amazon-Japan has deodorant!

About bloody time.  Hope the Oyaji take to wearing it.
They are both sold through the same Amazon store, which also carries a bunch of African hair care products, that makes me think this is not Japanese run.

This brand is native, but should suit your other needs.

Some links to older posts on shopping in, or before coming to, Japan.

  1. I brought a bunch of deodorant when I came, but I have been here so long I have been out for too long. Thank you for the heads up.

  2. Likewise. I figured it would be a public-service.

I cannot fathom why 'the Foreign Buyer's Club' and 'the Flying Pig' online sources in Japan of American products, as well as Costco Japan, do not carry anything decent, or indecent - condoms. 'The Foreign Buyer's Club' did not carry them in '94 when they were a catalogue shop, and still don't. Some dumbassed importation law?

The two links are unscented (無香料) antiperspirant (制汗), though you'll get better luck with a search for deodorant (デオドラント) than antiperspirant. This, 固形, seems to mean solid, or stick.

  4. Is deodorant not a thing in Japan?
My god half the girls I know carry deodorant in their purse or car!

  5. So the japanese take after the french in this department? I don't know what I would do without my deodorant. People would be screaming and running in the opposite direction.

  6. I knew this would generate hits and comments.

No, deodorant is not much of a thing in Japan, which is not as bad as it would be elsewhere, but is still bad enough in the summer.

  7. Getting on a bus in Hawaii when the Japanese tourists got on in front of the Ala Moana shopping center was a disgusting experience. Man....the American tourists would be wincing in disgust....absolutely nasty.

  8. Yes Chris, pits are just not something you can leave on their own, even if you have fewer apocrine glands, eat less mammal, and are smaller: summer makes us all stink, and much worse without deodorant/antiperspirant.

  9. The Speed Stick I usually pick up at Costco works for me, but the Japanese version of Ban, called Ban Medicated, works amazingly well. However, I've still got my stash I brought back from the States in May.

  10. Hey Billy, thanks for the input. The more options we Gaijin have the better. At Costco and elsewhere I have not found unscented solid, which I far prefer (except Mitchum, which irritates), but to each their own.

  11. There is a powder style deodorant available in the regular drug stores in a white can with a coloured stripe depending on the smell. I always go for the purple soap one, nice discreet smell and keeps the BO at bay. I have been using that for a few years and find it better than most Australian ones as they are full of alcohol and hence make my underarms dry up like prunes and sting.
